WPH AWARDS £10,000 TO ZOË’S PLACE BABY HOSPICE
The WPH Charitable Trust has awarded £10,000 to Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry.
The money will be used to pay towards the hospice’s bill for core clinical costs which are in excess of £800,000 every year.
Specifically, it will be used towards overheads such as nursing salaries, staff training and hospice consumables in Easter Way, Ash Green.
Opening its doors in July 2011 Zoë’s Place provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care for babies and young children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses in Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond.
Serving babies and children from before birth up to their sixth birthday, Zoe’s Place hospices are the only facility of their kind to provide a dedicated, specialist service for children with multiple, complex needs.
The hospice currently has 32 babies accessing their services.
With four beds out of five open three days/nights a week, the ultimate aim is for all beds to be accessible seven nights a week, with round-the-clock specialist care available for children.
Rachel Harrison, Senior Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser at Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice said: “A grant like this is really invaluable to Zoë’s Place as it means we can really make use of it where it is needed the most.
“If we can’t provide that core clinical care to our children we wouldn’t be able to function.
“Thanks to this grant from the WPH Charitable Trust we are able to continue providing a reliable, flexible service for our families.”
It was the third time the Trust had made a significant donation to the hospice.
In 2020 the Trust set aside £25,000 to distribute equally among all of Coventry and Warwickshire’s five hospices in the wake of rising demand for services coupled with the cancellation of events and an abrupt halt in fundraising due to Covid.
In 2017 Zoë’s Place received £20,000 to fund its on-site GP service.
